Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

The Movement Paradigm is a holistic and integrative health clinic that combines functional medicine, holistic physical therapy, nervous system regulation, and personalized wellness plans to address the root causes of your health issues. Our goal is to help you heal, transform, and live radiantly.

Integrative medicine employs a comprehensive whole-person approach that blends a variety of therapeutic practices, including mind-body techniques, and evidence-based therapies from both conventional and alternative medicine.

On the other hand, functional medicine operates under a more focused paradigm that primarily aims to uncover and address the root causes of health issues. This approach relies heavily on detailed lab testing to identify specific problems. It emphasizes the use of nutritional supplements to manage these issues, turning to prescription medications as a secondary option. Fundamental lifestyle changes, such as adjustments in diet, exercise routines, stress management, and sleep habits, are also integral to the functional medicine strategy.

While functional medicine zeroes in on underlying health problems and specific treatment protocols, integrative medicine takes a broader, more holistic view, incorporating a wide range of medical disciplines and treatments. In our practice, we combine these two methodologies to offer the most comprehensive and personalized care possible, ensuring that each patient receives an optimized plan that targets specific ailments and promotes overall health and vitality.

We are at 101 Manor Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335. Our general hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. However, we operate by appointment only.

Services Offered

We specialize in treating chronic pain and complex health issues. Our highly personalized approach addresses chronic pain, airway dysfunction, and neuromuscular and musculoskeletal issues like pelvic floor dysfunction, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. We treat complex health issues, including gastrointestinal disorders such as IBS and leaky gut, and immune-related problems like allergies and autoimmune diseases. We specialize in managing hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders, metabolic challenges such as diabetes and hypertension, and neurologic and emotional conditions such as depression and anxiety. Additionally, we focus on environmental toxicity and genetic factors. While integrating nervous system regulation into all of our care plans, we provide treatment that encompasses physical, mental, and emotional health to optimize your well-being.

Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on symptom management, we aim to identify and treat the root causes of your health issues through a comprehensive and integrative approach. We provide highly personalized care plans that address your physical, emotional, and mental health.

Appointments and Sessions

Functional Medicine: After your 60-minute evaluation, sessions typically last 30 minutes every two to three weeks.

Holistic Physical Therapy: After your 60-minute evaluation, sessions typically last 60 minutes to allow sufficient time for a thorough reassessment and developing an at-home plan. However, 30-minute sessions are available if needed for your convenience.

Functional Medicine: On average, most patients require ten to twelve 30-minute sessions after your evaluation, spanning about six months for complex health issues. Every treatment plan is unique. Your provider will let you know how often to schedule appointments. Your success depends on your commitment to the recommended treatment and lifestyle plan.

Holistic Physical Therapy: Most patients require four to six sessions after their initial evaluation. Every treatment plan is unique. Your provider will let you know how often to schedule appointments. Your success depends on your commitment to the recommended treatment and lifestyle plan.

Functional Medicine: Absolutely! Our goal is behavior change. With our guidance and support, you will be successful as long as you commit to making small changes over time.

Holistic Physical Therapy: Absolutely! Most patients need to come in once a week for four to six visits. You will receive a detailed, concise, and attainable video program to work on between sessions. As long as you commit to making small changes over time, with our guidance and support, you will be successful!

Yes! You can reach us via your patient portal. This ensures we have full access to your medical records, allowing us to provide you with the most informed and efficient assistance possible.

Insurance and Payments

To provide one-on-one quality care, we do not accept insurance or interact directly with insurance providers.  However, you can submit incurred “out of network” expenses for ‘physical therapy’ or ‘nutrition’ (for functional medicine) to your insurance company. We recommend calling your insurance provider before beginning treatment to determine your coverage benefits. We will provide you with a statement and receipts for submission.

The main difference is the high-quality, personalized care you receive. The average insurance deductible is greater than $4,000 for individuals and $8,000 for families, with co-pays averaging $30 per session. With three sessions a week in physical therapy, you would pay $90/week at a standard outpatient clinic. At The Movement Paradigm, you receive holistic care that addresses the root causes of your health issues, which can ultimately cost you less and provide a more comprehensive approach to your well-being.

Yes, both HSA and FSA plans are accepted.

Policies

We have a 48-hour cancellation policy. While we understand that emergencies happen, we seek individuals ready to commit to their health and recovery. If you provide less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged in full for your session.

Getting Started

If you need help figuring out where to start but know you need to improve your overall health, we recommend scheduling a complimentary discovery session. During this session, we will learn more about the health conditions you are struggling with, review potential treatment plans, and discuss ways we can help you on your healing journey.

The best way to schedule an appointment is through our website. If you are new, we recommend starting with a discovery session. If you are an existing patient, visit our patient portal.

Additional Information

During your first visit, we will conduct a thorough evaluation of your health history and current concerns. We will discuss your goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. This plan may include functional medicine testing, physical therapy assessments, and lifestyle recommendations.

Please complete your requested paperwork, relevant medical records, and any recent lab results in the patient portal and save them as a PDF only (not individual pictures, please) at least two days before your appointment. We recommend doing all paperwork on a desktop instead of a tablet or phone.

Yes, we offer virtual consultations. This allows us to provide our services and support to those who may not be able to visit our clinic in person.

Yes, we offer an online supplement dispensary featuring trusted brands and formulations carefully selected by our providers. We recommend our clinic’s supplements and online store because we believe they are the safest and most effective products available. While we strive to keep our costs as low as possible, please note that the supplement companies themselves set all prices.

At The Movement Paradigm, we offer a range of integrative testing services. Testing is entirely optional; however, it is often highly recommended for root cause medicine. The cost can vary, but we aim to be very selective on which test(s) you are doing and why, to keep the cost as low as possible for you. Test kits are not available in-office but are conveniently shipped directly to patients. Results are communicated in appointments only. While testing fees are separate from consultation costs and vary by test, we ensure upfront pricing transparency. For blood draws, which are not conducted on-site, we provide guidance to locate nearby facilities that can perform the necessary services.

Our HIPAA-compliant patient portal can be accessed via our Practice Better app on your phone or through the website. This portal lets you view notes, review videos, request appointments, message your provider, and access billing.
